NEPALI HERITAGE IN THE HIMALAYA

Join us at Karma Martam Retreat for an immersive experience of the dussehra festivities up in the Himalayas. DAY 1 – THURSDAY, 31 OCTOBER 2024

DAY 2 – FRIDAY, 01 NOVEMBER 2024

We begin the celebrations of the Hindu festival of Dussehra at Karma Martam Retreat with a Puja (prayer) dedicated to the Goddess Laxmi in the hotel courtyard at 10am. The festivities begin at 6pm with a crackling bonfire providing the backdrop to the dramatic Bhailoni dance performance. A troupe of local women in colourful costumes will also perform a dance to the gods.

DAY 3 – SATURDAY, 02 NOVEMBER 2024

We continue our Diwali celebrations with a traditional Deusi dance performance by men and boys from the local village. This traditional Nepali folk dance draws from traditional tales and features colourful costumes and high theatre. At 6pm, enjoy a sumptuous Nepali feast at the restaurant accompanied by live music.

DAY 4 – SUNDAY, 03 NOVEMBER 2024

After breakfast at the resort, join us in the courtyard as we celebrate Bhai Tika from 11am with food, drinks and entertainment. At 4pm, join us for a leisurely trek through the local village, including visits to local homes to witness the traditional way of life of the mountain communities here.
